The
Exec
"But
the real star of The Exec is the coloring by Blond.
The dark blue, muted tones in Pierce's bedroom at
the beginning of the story beautifully capture the
feeling of quiet sanctuary necessary to contrast Pierce's
personal life and professional life. Later, as he
enters the golden, brilliantly shiny halls of his
office, we understand the intoxicating sensations
that attracted Pierce to his line of work in the first
place. The vivid orange and red hues of the brutality
in the boardroom where we first see Pierce's "negotiation"
skills in action capture an intensity that is both
stunning and unsettling. Though the story and artwork
are both entertaining, without Blond's coloring and
the glossy, high-quality paper stock, The Exec would
lose a good deal of its futuristic, atmospheric appeal."
Randy
Meyers, Captain Comics Review
"...one of the best production jobs
I've seen on an independent book in some time."
Steven
Grant, Permanent Damage
Taxman
"I
really have to give some extra credit to [Blond].
Computer coloring is still a fairly new innovation
in comic books and when a company like Top Cow keeps
raising the bar every month, its good to see an independent
book that can utilize the medium to their advantage."
